The problem: Diaper Gap
Babies come in all shapes and sizes, which is why one brand of diapers may work great for your neighbor’s child, but not for yours. One thing diapers do have in common is that they all create what we call “diaper gap”. The diaper gap is naturally created in the space between the baby’s bottom and the diaper. This “gap” is an intentional design of diapers (and unavoidable) because it creates an area for #2’s - good for the daytime, but usually not needed at night.
This empty space means that moisture is not absorbed into the diaper as quickly as it needs to be to avoid leaks. Therefore, even if the diaper fits snug around your child's waist and legs, there is a pool of standing liquid just asking to go somewhere other than where it’s originally intended to go. Add to that the pressure caused by your baby moving around on the mattress, it’s like a little tiny damn trying to hold back a sea of pee.
